New Communities

AAP welcomes all who identify as AAPI(Asian American Pacific Islander) creatives, producers, hosts and editors who are at different stages of podcasting. Our members represent all levels of podcasting: from aspiring show-runners who are planning to launch to those with many years of experience at critically-acclaimed shows. While we are based in New York City, we welcome AAPIers from all over the world. It’s an exciting time to build a hub where Asian-American podcasters can support one another, share and collaborate to amplify their voices and podcasts.

We were founded in April 2019 as a simple Instagram page and quickly grew into a burgeoning community. Our pillars of support are Community, Education and Visibility. These three pillars are the foundation for every program, event and partnership. Our mission is to help fill the void of adequate representation for Black creatives within the podcast industry. We do this by providing support, creating avenues to increase visibility, and developing educational resources to ensure that our community has the tools needed to start, grow and sustain their platforms. As we are always looking at avenues to help enrich our members and community at large; in July 2020 we launched Blk Podfest, a podcast festival curated to meet the needs of Black podcasters. We aim to always listen and put the needs of our community first.

Podcasters' Hangout was created to allow for the participation of community and collaboration of Podcasters around the world.

The NYT Podcast Club is a community of podcast lovers who discuss one episode of one podcast every week — basically, a book club for podcasts. It's a forum for conversation, analysis and spreading the love of podcasts. (It's also an online extension of a club started among NYT employees.) Every Monday, we’ll post this week's episode for discussion, along with a few questions to get the discussion going.

WOC (Women of Color) Podcasters is an inclusive community for women of color podcasters and audio creators to connect, learn, and share resources. In two years, WOC Podcasters has grown to include a worldwide community, blog, and membership site.

Podcast Brunch Club is bringing the book club concept to podcasts. Sick of the eye rolls when you start every other sentence with "so, I heard on a podcast..."? We get you. We're working to help create a healthier, sustainable, compassionate and peaceful planet by helping folks take their next step toward a healthy, plant-sourced diet, composed primarily of whole or minimally processed foods. Our aim is to make our group a fun, friendly, welcoming place for everyone, especially those who are just getting started. Animal advocacy is welcome on our page, but images of graphic violence are not. We allow some leeway, but ask that posts be at least broadly related to food, plant-based nutrition, or diet and lifestyle change. Please keep all exchanges courteous and respectful. Recipes for healthy and tasty plant-based dishes are welcome. But recipes with animal products, such as dairy, eggs, gelatin, mayonnaise, or honey, will be deleted, as will marketing posts for products or services not directly tied to our mission. Petitions may occasionally be allowed, but most will not.There’s a broad consensus among health and nutrition professionals that vegans should regularly take a B-12 supplement for optimal health.
